This is from 'old' FAQ but just decided to post it... Shows pretty clearly the stupidity/cockiness of Jagex... Obviously, the guy meant ping/latency, not download rates. And that's how mining works.
E.G. At iron ores both level 41 and 99 miners have over 95% chance of receiving ore in 1 tick. When 2 people competing, the one with less ping/latency will send the command to the server first and win
Yeah, and it doesn't have to suck. For example, if you want maximum XP/h at some rocks, you will need to use full populated worlds. At certain times, only W2 is full, giving unfair advantage for US
...players and Europeans have no chance at all unless that US players connection totally sucks. For example, I have <60 ping in european servers, >100 in US. :|
