Technically, it could. But if it's even half new and moderately powered, it shouldn't make a difference. Specs?

Processor : Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16GHz 2.17GHz
Memory (RAM): 3,00GB
Computer Type: 32-bits

Window version: Windows Vista Home Basic
Service Pack 2

Is that enough information?

Yeah, that should be enough. When you say split screen, do you mean extended onto the second monitor, or duplicated? Also are you sure that it only lags when connected to the monitor. This is odd.

It's extended, well, is laggs very much when i connected the monitor,
but it laggs sometimes without the extra monitor, but a lot less..

check your battery settings, i was laggy and i didn't know why, then i remembered my setting was on power saver, if that be the case, then change setting to either balanced or high performance.

Without the monitor connected, close all open programs and go into ask manager and then the processes tab. Do you see anything taking up a large amount of RAM or CPU?

Not anything unusual, only some programs to keep my laptop running..
